Fireplace fire escapes, sets Mattapan house on fire

A two-alarm fire that broke out shortly before 7 p.m. did an estimated $400,000 damage to a single-family home at 83 Blake St., the Boston Fire Department reports.

The department says a fireplace fire escaped the chimney and set the house's walls on fire, the department says in a series of reports on its Twitter feed. No injuries were reported.
