A flurry of neighborhood clean-ups are planned for Saturday, April 25 — dubbed Boston Shines day in the city. The event — coordinated by Mayor Menino’s office — will target parks, sidewalks and other public spaces. Anyone can turn out for the morning activities— which generally start at 9 a.m.

Volunteer crews will be on site at the corner of Morton and Harvard streets, clearing the length of Harvard Street between Walk Hill and Morton; the corner of Morton and West Selden, cleaning along Norfolk Street to Codman Sq.; Almont Park and Regina Road will also have clean-ups.
Crews will meet to clean at the Perkins Community Center and Lee School; the McCormack Civic Association will lead a clean-up beginning at the Sugar Bowl on Dot Ave.; the Greater Neponset Parks Committee will target Garvey, Toohig & King Street parks (pre-register for the Neponset effort by e-mail, driscoll77@msn.com).
Also on Saturday, the Dorchester Park Association swings into action at 9 a.m. at the Dot Ave. entrance and Ronan Park’s friends will do the same. Ronan Park will host a thank-you barbeque at the conclusion of their effort. Savin Hill neighbors will gather at their park too.
