Man charged with punching, threatening girlfriend on River Street

Boston Police report arresting David Fernandes, 47, on charges he punched his girlfriend in the face this morning, then, as she fled, caught up to her in his car and pointed a gun at her.

The incident occurred as the woman was walking on River Street in Mattapan around 10:00 a.m., police say.

Fernandes was initially charged with domestic assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and operating after license suspension. Police say he was charged with possession of crack cocaine after officers found some in his front pants pocket during booking.
