Beware of scams on water damage

In the wake of the watery state of affairs in the region, Boston Police are warning residents to be careful if someone comes to a water-logged home looking to gain access and does not display proper identification.

Legitimate employees of the city’s Water and Sewer Commission or any other utility are required to have proper identification with them. They will also be wearing the appropriate uniform with the company or utility logo on the side of the vehicle.

Police ask that anyone experiencing a visit by unauthorized individuals call the Crimestoppers Tip Line (800-494-8477).
or text the word “TIP” to Crime (27463). Information only; no identity needed.
