Former Savin Hill resident convicted of stabbing murder

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today convicted Steven Odegard of first-degree murder for the death of Daniel Yakovleff in Odegard's Tuttle Street apartment on Jan. 17, 2008, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office announced.

OdegardOdegardThe conviction means Odegard, 43, will spend the rest of his life in prison, without possibility of parole.

Prosecutors charged Odegard picked up Yakovleff, 20, at the Eagle Bar in the South End, then took him back to his apartment at 56 Tuttle St., where he stabbed him repeatedly in his bed with a kitchen knife.

Odegard had argued a third man actually killed Yakovleff, a Connecticut native living in Roxbury.
