Holiday tree lighting events start on Nov. 26

A flurry of Christmas tree lightings and related parties begin on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The Dorchester Holiday Celebrations Committee and Mayor’s Office hosts a trolley tour and lighting of neighborhood trees on Sat., November 26 beginning in Lower Mills at 3:10 p.m.

Other stops that day will include Port Norfolk (3:30), Harbor Point (4), Meetinghouse Hill (4:30), Uphams Corner (5), Blessed Mother Theresa Church (5:30), Savin Hill’s Ryan Playground (6), Fields Corner (6:30), King St. Playground (7) and Peabody Sq. A separate holiday tree lighting tour— the Macy’s Enchanted Trolley Tour— will make local stops on Friday, Dec. 2. The tour will be in Mattapan Square at 6:45 p.m., Codman Square at 7:15 p.m. and Adams Corner at 7:45 p.m.

Finally, Popes Hill Neighborhood Association will host its own tree lighting event on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 4:30 p.m. at Neponset Circle, followed by a party at the Neponset VFW Post.
