Seven stabbed in melee at Neponset Circle bar

A bouncer at Ups and Downs was stabbed in the leg trying to break up a fight that sent six other people to the hospital with stab wounds as well, Boston Police report.

The bouncer was taken to Boston Medical Center in critical condition with a life-threatening injury; the other victims were transported to Carney Hospital with less serious wounds.

The fight started around 2 a.m., police report, adding they cited the bar for the incident, which means a hearing before the Boston Licensing Board and possible penalties ranging up to license revocation.

The bar, formally known as Upstairs Downstairs, has had problems with violence in the past.
