Carl Benoit, 23, of Bellevue Street was one of five men indicted by a Suffolk County grand jury for his alleged participation in a Charlestown crack and heroin ring, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office report.

Benoit was charged with 16 counts of distribution of a class B substance, 16 counts of distribution of a class B substance in a school zone and six counts for similar class-A charges, the DA's office said Tuesday after a series of early morning raids that resulted in 25 arrests across the city.

According to the DA's office, Benoit and the others were nabbed on charges they sold drugs in and near the Bunker Hill housing development, Charlestown High School and an elementary school in Charlestown.

Benoit was already in custody on other charges and will be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court sometime over the next few days, the DA's office said.
