Mattapan Square Main Streets, Inc. has hired its first Executive Director. Tina Petigny, a Hyde Park resident and a who worked previously as a program manager for Boston Connects, Inc., will start this month. Petigny is a former Associate Director of YouthBuild Boston.

“Tina brings years of programming and service to Mattapan Square Main Streets,” said Mayor Thomas M. Menino in a statement. “Tina’s background of organizing  and programming around business and community development, combined with her experience growing up in the neighborhoods of Boston, makes her uniquely suited to this position.”

“I’m excited to bring the vision of what people want to see in the square to life,” said Petigny. “We want Mattapan Square to be beautiful and provide a warm welcome as a gateway into The Hub.”

Designated in 2010, the Mattapan Square Main Streets, Inc. became the city’s 20th Main Streets organization.
