An Adams Corner building that will soon house a new Boston Sports Club will also have a renovated, expanded, and “state of the art” liquor store with two floors, and no turnstiles.

Tom Cifrino presented plans for updates to the current liquor store at 540 Gallivan Blvd., which will stay open during construction, at Tuesday night’s Cedar Grove Civic Association meeting. Supreme Realty Trust, where Cifrino is president, owns the building. He said the expanded store will include 900 square feet that Boston Sports Club does not need for its footprint. The club is expected to open by Labor Day.

The addition will also have nine large 16-by-12 foot windows to allow in more natural light. They will be equipped with interior grates. While the cost of the renovations was not disclosed at the meeting, Cifrino said if there was enough money left over, the trust would update the building’s facade along Gallivan Boulevard as well.

Crews recently finished paving the lower parking lot for the building, which community members applauded. A number of new lights and security cameras have also been installed there, Cifrino said, with more cameras on the way.

Boston Sports Club has inked a ten-year lease for the 17,000 square foot space that was vacated in 2013 by Rite-AID, the chain drug store. The property also houses College Hype, a popular local sportswear company, which operates in the basement level. The building, built in 1934, was originally home to a Supreme Market store.
