Thursday (2nd) – Gov. Patrick will be guest chef at Men of Boston cook fest— This year’s Men of Boston Cook for Women’s Health is shaping up to be another star studded fundraiser for women’s programs in Dorchester.

Celebrity chefs at this year’s event on Oct. 2 at the Codman Square Health Center will include Gov. Deval Patrick and CNN anchor and Dorchester native John King while participating restaurants will include local favorites Ashmont Grill and Venezia. Television newsman Jonathan Elias of WBZ will emcee the program and The Blue Hotel will perform as guests dine. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit menofboston.com.

• Boston Spay/Neuter Day for Cats, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the United House of Prayer for All People, 206 Seaver St., Dorchester. $25 per cat. The Animal Rescue League of Boston will also offer a wellness clinic for cats who are already spayed/neutered. For $10, your cat will received a vet exam, vaccinations, flea treatment, and microchip. Sunday (5th) – St. Ambrose parish in Fields Corner will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a Mass at 11 a.m. followed by reception at IBEW hall on Freeport Street. Bishop Hennessey to celebrate.

• A Caribbean-American Cultural Expo at Unity Sports Club, 10 Dunbar Ave., Dorchester, 4-9 p.m. Enjoy FREE music, performances, presentations, educational displays, and craft making demonstrations, ethnic cuisine and soft drinks.

Tuesday (7th) – In celebration of its 50th anniversary, UMass Boston invites the public to “Campus on the Common” from noon to 5:30 on the Boston Common. It features a series of short “Tent Talks” from UMass Boston faculty on subjects ranging from cancer research to hip-hop. Visitors can also explore the diversity of the university’s educational and co-curricular opportunities through an academic showcase of the school’s 11 colleges. Capping off the day, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., will be a performance by Boston-based band East Coast Soul.
