Thursday (9th) – UMass Boston Film Series offers free 7 p.m. screening of the HBO film “Love Child” No tickets required. Campus Center, third floor, 100 Morrissey Blvd., Dorchester. Q&A follows with director Valerie Veatch “Love Child” follows the first tried case of Internet addiction centered in the Republic of Korea.

Saturday (11th) – JFK Library Celebrate! series, appropriate for family audiences and children ages 5 and up, hosts Crabgrass Puppet Theatre - The Lion and the Mouse and Other Tales, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Free, reservations are required. Call 617-514-1644 or go to jfklibrary.org
Sunday (12th) – Irish Heritage Festival, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Florian Hall and McKeon Post, Hallet Street and Hilltop Street. Live music, food, vendors, culture and children’s activities. To support the cost of the festival, a suggested donation of $5 per person and $20 per family is requested. Website is DorchesterIrishHeritageFest.com.

Monday (13th) – City begins fall leaf collection on regular recycling days through Nov. 29. Place leaves and yard debris in large paper leaf bags or open barrels labeled “yard waste” (no plastic bags) by 7 a.m.

Wednesday (15th) – The last day to register to vote, change one’s voting address, or party affiliation for the November 4 state election is today. The Election Department, Room 241, at Boston City Hall, will be open until 8 p.m.. Voters entering City Hall after 5 p.m. should enter from the Congress Street side of the building opposite Faneuil Hall. Absentee voters are required to fill out a new application each calendar year.
