Workers have begun reconstructing sidewalks on both sides of Gallivan Boulevard from Adams Vllage east to Neponset Circle as part of a $900,000 MassDOT project to resurface the boulevard along a two-mile stretch from Morton Street to Interstate 93 at Neponset. Work to mill the existing roadway surface will begin at the intersection with Morton Street and proceed east in six stages, starting next Sunday (May 11).

Paving will begin the following Sunday, May 18. Work will take place nightly from Sunday through Friday morning, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. and is expected to take four weeks, weather permitting.

For each stage, the detour routes and closures are as follows:

Detour A closes eastbound Gallivan Boulevard and detours traffic via Morton Street and Washington Street;

Detour B closes eastbound Gallivan Boulevard and detours traffic via Washington Street, Richmond Street, and Dorchester Ave; Detour C closes eastbound Gallivan Boulevard and detours traffic via Dorchester Avenue and Adams Street; Detour E and F use Granite Avenue, ands Hilltop and Hallet streets.

For sections D and G, alternating traffic is implemented with no scheduled detours. Pavement markings will be put down immediately follow final paving.
