•Winter weather prompted the postponement of the first city-sponsored community meeting on the proposed Olympics bid. The meeting was rescheduled to Thursday, February 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Suffolk Law School on Tremont Street. The first meeting in Dorchester on the subject is set for May 19 at the Cleveland Community Center. The first Mattapan meeting is July 28 at Mildred Ave.

Friday (6th) – First in a new monthly Dorchester Civic Forum series sponsored by First Parish Dorchester and Bowdoin Geneva Residents Association will be held at 7 p.m. in the hall of First Parish Meetinghouse, at 10 Parish St. To get involved and help in planning, please reach out to Judy Meredith at judy@realclout.org

Saturday (7th) – Fans of New Kids on the Block front-man Jordan Knight get ready to dance the night away for a great cause. Knight will once again be the special guest at the 5th annual Dancing for Hope fundraiser at one of Boston’s premier nightclubs, The Estate, located at One Boylston Place. The Saturday, February 7 event kicks off at 6 p.m. Boston City Councillor Tito Jackson returns for the second consecutive year as the event’s emcee. Dancing for Hope 2015 will also feature a performance by Phunk Phenomenon, from the hit show America’s Best Dance Crew, and an appearance by members of the New England Patriots cheerleading squad-just back in Boston following their Super Bowl performance. Tickets, which range from $40-$250, are available online at stmaryscenterma.org. Sponsor and VIP level tickets include a special reception and photos with Jordan Knight.

Wednesday (11th)
– Milton High School hosts a panel of African American leaders in Massachusetts to discuss civil rights in the United States and the Greater Boston area. Fletcher “Flash” Wiley, Attorney, will moderate this discussion panel. Panelists will include Kenneth Guscott, former President of the Boston Chapter of NAACP; William “Mo” Cowan, former U.S. Senator; and J. Keith Motley, Chancellor of the UMass Boston. 6:30-8:30 pm in the Charles C. Winchester Auditorium at Milton High School in Milton. Free.

Friday (13th)
