Saturday (14th)
The JFK Presidential Library and Museum will host the Irish Balladeers from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The event is part of the museum’s Celebrate! Series that presents American culture diversity through performance. To honor St. Patrick’s day, The Balladeers will perform traditional stories and dances with authentic Irish instruments.
All groups (including schools, community centers, and scouting groups) are welcome. The event is open to ages 5 and up and seats are available on a first come, first serve basis. Sunday (15th)

St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast in South Boston hosted by state Sen. Linda Dorcena Forry. The program will be televised on New England Cable News from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. St. Patrick’s Day Parade in South Boston begins at 1 p.m. from Broadway Station.

• Visit Franklin Park Zoo and watch as some of the animals receive green-themed enrichment items in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Visit zoonewengland.org/enrichment to learn more.

Tuesday (17th)

• St. Patrick’s Day/ Evacuation Day holiday in City of Boston. A Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Chapel on Dorchester Street beginning at 9 a.m., followed by a re-enactment at Dorchester Heights by the South Boston Allied War Veterans Council, the South Boston Citizens Council, and local elected officials. The Dorchester Heights event will begin at 10 a.m. Normally a day off for Boston Public School students, they will have classes on Tuesday, March 17 to make up for the historic snow days over the past two months.

• The Boston Parks and Recreation Department and the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services invite the public to a 6:30 p.m. meeting to discuss upcoming improvements to Children’s Park located at 81-85 Intervale St. Following a brief presentation, community members will be able to offer input regarding the material presented and the design process. For more information, please call Lauren Bryant at 617-961-3019.

• McCormack Civic Association meets at Blessed Mother Teresa Parish Hall in the basement of Saint Margaret Church beginning at 7 p.m.

Wednesday (18th)

The Boston Parks and Recreation Department and the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services invite the public to the final meeting at 6:30 p.m. to discuss upcoming improvements to Mary Hannon Playground located at 621 Dudley St., Dorchester. Following a brief presentation, community members will be able to offer input regarding the material presented and the design process.  The meeting will be held at 624 Dudley St. in the Cottage Brook Apartments Community Room. Thursday (19th)

The next monthly meeting of the Boston State Hospital Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) will be held at the Foley Building, 249 River St., Mattapan, from 6-8 p.m. Members of the public are invited to attend.

Saturday (21st)

Cheer on 26 Boston youth from across Boston as they compete in Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF) annual Citywide Spelling Bee at 10:30 a.m. at the BCYF Mildred Avenue Community Center/School in Mattapan. The winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. in May.
