Fairmount Line riders will be compelled to trade train cars for shuttle buses this weekend— and over two subsequent December weekends.

The change in service is necessary due to ongoing construction at a new Fairmount line station at Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan, according to state officials. Trains will be replaced with buses during the weekends of December 2 and 3, December 9 and 10, and December 16 and 17.

Shuttle buses will make stops at all stations between South Station and Readville in both directions. In addition, both before and after these weekends in December, weekend train service between Morton Street and Readville as well as the last two outbound weekday trains between South Station and Readville will continue to be replaced with shuttle buses.

This is also done to accommodate the construction of Blue Hill Avenue Station, which is expected to be completed in 2019.
