Fields corner man charged with attempted murder in Cambridge

The Cambridge Police Department report arresting Jean Griffin, 41, of Corwin Street in Fields Corner, on a variety of charges - including armed assault to murder - for an incident May 20 in which several rounds were fired into a second-story residence at Elm and Cambridge streets.

"The May 20th shooting was not believed to be random and the subsequent investigation led to the issuance of a warrant for the defendant's arrest," police say in a statement

The Cambridge Police Department reports US marshals and Boston police assisted them in locating and arresting Griffin in Dorchester Thursday on charges that also include possession of a large-capacity firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm and malicious destruction of property. He was scheduled for arraignment in Cambridge District Court Friday, police say.

Cambridge Police Commissioner Branville Bard, Jr. credited tips from Cambridge residents for helping lead them to Griffin.
