'Culture of achievement' taking hold at old Dot High

Students at the three high school communities that occupy the former Dorchester High School building all showed drastic improvement in performance this year on the state's MCAS tests. Administrators say the gains are evidence of the effectiveness of the "small learning community" model. Above, students celebrate the news about the latest MCAS scores at an assembly last Wednesday.

Deal brings Kit Clark under Bay Cove ownership

His mother's living room on Branchfield street is a long way from the army bunk in Fallujah, Iraq where U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Chris Saunders spent his nights until just recently. Saunders was injured in an I.E.D. explosion on September 14, and has returned home to get after the business of recovery and reconstructing his life in Boston.
