Water break swamps Gallivan, snarls traffic

A section of Gallivan Boulevard near Cedar Grove was flooded Monday morning after an apparent water pipe rupture. The incident caused a major disruption to the morning commute in the neighborhood. Gallivan -between Dorchester Avenue and Adams Street- was closed for several hours.The Boston Water & Sewer Commission says about eight homes were impacted by the resultant water shut down. Above, workers search for catch basins to drain the water underneath an MBTA trolley bridge that runs over Gallivan Blvd. The MBTA was not affected by the incident.


Major fixes planned for Fields Corner shopping mall
A long-awaited renovation will brighten the 240,000-sq.ft. lot between Dorchester and Geneva Avenues. In addition, national clothing chain A.J. Wright will open a store in Fields Corner.
