Mosaic Quilt Project: A Tile Mosaic Course for Older Adults at the Lower Mills Library

Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. , April 16 & 23 and May 7 – June 11 come learn the ancient art of mosaics and create your own. The workshop will include a brief history of tile mosaics, current trends in the field of mosaics, and will provide the technical skill needed to create a beautiful work of art. Participants will agree on a theme and make a part of a "mosaic quilt" to be displayed at an exhibition of the work from the class held on June 20th from 6 - 7:45 p.m. Participants will then get to bring their part of the work home.  Read more

Holidays Choir Concert in Mattapan Square

Holidays Choir Concert, Mattapan – St. Angela’s Parish, Mattapan will hold its Annual Holiday Concert on Sunday, January 13th, 2013 from 6:30PM until 9:30 PM at St. Angela’s Church on Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan Square. Proceeds will benefit St. Angela’s Church building repairs and improvement. Auditions are separated by into age groups so please be sure to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your child's appropriate time.

The Pierce House was once surrounded by farmland. We read Big Red Barn and discuss what kinds of animals the Pierces would have kept on their farm and what types of food, labor, and products the farmers would get from each animal. The Dorchester Day Parade Committee is hosting its 1st annual art contest open to all
Dorchester residents in the 3rd through 6th grade or students that attend a Dorchester
school. Two (2) prizes will be awarded to the drawings that are chosen from a
panel of local judges. Please fill out the registration form below and mail it with your
Art to the committee chair. A completed registration form and Art must be
postmarked by March 16, 2012 to be considered for a prize.

SouL Line Dance Classes @ the Holland Center

Beginner & Intermediate line dance classes are held weekly at the John P Holland School Community Center on Wednesdays in 8-week session durations. The next session begins 10/12 - 11/30 open to BCYF Members, contact the Holland Comm Center Staff if you are interested in attaining ADULT or SENIOR membership to attend the Soul line dance class.

We teach the basics in line dancing whether you dance SouL or Country.

Join Franklin Park Coalition along with youngsters and people of all ages to our annual Elma Lewis Playhouse in the Park: Free Concert & Film series. Each Tuesday from July to August, Franklin Park will be bursting with the sounds of Jazz and Top 40, provided by the best local talent.

JazzBoston series comes to BPL branches

The Boston Public Library this week announced the launch of a series of free concerts in partnership with JazzBoston, a 5 year-old nonprofit organization serving artists and audiences throughout the Greater Boston area. Riffs & Raps: Jazzin' the Generations invites people of all ages to travel together on a live musical tour through time that will be stopping at eight neighborhood branches this December. Most especially welcome are senior citizens, who will recognize many favorite songs as their musical guides use jazz standards and originals to bridge the generations.  Read more
