Spring Athletic Program Registration

The month of March will close out the Winter session of programs and is full of special events in all core program areas. In our Athletic program we will host the championship games for all three divisions of the Intramural Basketball program: Girls Low Rim (3/5), 14&U Co-ed (3/6) and Boys Low Rim (3/11). Our 4 All-Star teams will continue to play home and away games against other Clubs from the region and we will host Spring Training (3/20) and Try-outs (3/27) for the Savin Hill Baseball League. In Our Social Recreation program we will continue to offer daily tournaments, board games, group games and open art and we will host a St. Patrick’s Day Party (3/17). In our Teen program we will host a Girls Night Activity (3/4), a Roller Skating trip (3/5), the Spring Dance & Fashion Show (3/12), the Munch & Mingle (3/24) and the Girls Group will be volunteering at Rosie’s Place (3/31). In our Aquatics department the Marr-lin Swim Team will host their Annual Beanpool Meet (3/7) as well as attend the Regional Championship Meet in Lebanon, NH (3/12 & 3/13). We will also begin taking re-registrations for the Spring session of Swim Lessons (3/22 to 3/26). In our Education Center we will continue Homework Help and One-to-One Tutoring and our College Bound program will be working with High School Seniors on scholarship research and applications. We will also offer field trips to the Black Grace Dance Company (3/12) and the Martial Art of Drumming (3/18). In the Fine Arts area look for registration for Spring Classes (3/13) and an exhibit of Fine Arts and Photography pieces created by members over the past six months (3/19). Family and friends are welcome to attend. In the Music Clubhouse look for our One-to-One Lessons to continue on a weekly basis, group classes in guitar, drumming and piano, and we also have a new Chorus Group which will be meeting on Tuesday evenings. At our Denney Center Clubhouse in Harbor Point look for an Ice Skating Trip (3/5), Teen Girls Pajama Jam (3/6), the Parents Forum (3/18) and the Munch & Mingle (3/24). Spring Athletic Program Registration

Registration for our Spring Athletic programming will take place on Saturday, March 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We will be accepting registrations for the Intermediate/Senior Basketball League (I/SBL), Indoor Soccer and the Triple Play Fitness Club. The I/S Basketball League is for club members age 13 to 18 and is free of charge to those members who register on time. Registrations accepted after the March 13th date are on a first come, first serve basis and there will be a $10 late fee. Last year’s league had four teams in the Intermediate division (13-15) and six teams in the Senior division (15-18). The league plays games on Tuesday and Thursday evenings as well as Saturday mornings. League play is expected to begin the first week in April. The co-ed Soccer program will have three components. There will be a 4-team Intramural League for 8-12 year olds which will play games on Friday afternoons. For our 6 & 7 year old members we will offer a Clinic, also on Friday afternoons. Lastly, we will enter two teams into the N.E.N.E.A.P.C. league which will see our All-Stars from the Intramural program and our Denney Center Clubhouse competing against Boys & Girls Clubs from across the region. For those interested in the Triple Play Fitness Club we will be offering this Indoor program for members ages 6 to 12, also beginning in April. Walter Denney Youth Center to Celebrate Anniversary

On Wednesday, March 17th we will be celebrating our 7-year Anniversary of providing programs at our Walter Denney Clubhouse located in the Harbor Point section of Dorchester. Club members and their parents are invited to stop by the Center to take part in activities. There will be food, games, tours and more. This will also be a great time for residents of the Harbor Point community to renew their membership at the Center which will be free of charge on this day. In addition to the Anniversary Celebration other ongoing activities include U-Mass Tutoring, Kids Café, Walking Club, Dance Class, Stonehill Tutoring, Friday Field Trips, McCormack Gym, and Art Classes. The Center also houses a licensed after-school program for 5-12 year olds which includes a before school component and extended hours during school breaks.
