Marr-lin Swim Team Hosts Watertown Boys & Girls Club

The Marr-lin Swim Team traveled to the Watertown Boys and Girls Club for their first dual-meet of the regular season. Facing one of the top teams in the N.E.N.E.A.P.C. League, the Marr-lins were able to take all five age groups. After practicing for nearly a month it was time for our newest swimmers to shine. Some of the highlights from our new team members include the following swimmers: Betzalee Matos (25 yd. Freestyle 20.56 & 50 yd. Freestyle 51.03), Curt Boyd (25 yd. Freestyle 31.06 & 25 yd. Freestyle 1:30.71) and Sydney McGrath (50 yd. Freestyle 29.93 & 100 yd. Backstroke 1:21.72). Congratulations to these swimmers on their strong showing. Next up for the Marr-lins will be their first home meet of the season against the Charlestown Club on 11/12. Patriot’s Kids Café Thanksgiving Dinner

The Patriot’s Kids Café program, which is run in partnership with The Greater Boston Food Bank, will host its 8th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Wednesday, November 16th. The dinner will begin at 4:45 p.m. and take place in the Social Recreation Gamesroom. The Dinner is open to all members and their parents. On the same night, our Denney Center Unit, located in Harbor Point, will host their Dinner for Club members and families as well. The Patriot’s Kids Café program allows members ages 5 to 12 the opportunity to receive a hot, nutritious meal five nights a week at 4:45 p.m. Parents interested in registering their children must fill out a program application which are available at the reception desk of all three of our sites. All-Star Basketball Try-outs

The Athletic program is pleased to announce that try-outs for our traveling Winter Basketball program will be taking place in the coming weeks. There will be four teams offered for the 2012 season which will compete against Boys and Girls Clubs from the region. There will be several try-out dates for each team based on the number of attendees at the initial try-out. Team rosters will be completed by early December then the teams will spend the remainder of the month practicing in preparation for the season which will begin the first week in January. The ages for each team are determined as of January 1st, 2012. The try-out schedule is as follows: Boys 12 & Under – Saturday, November 12th at 3:30 p.m.; Girls 14 & Under – Tuesday, November 22nd at 6:00 p.m.; Boys 15 & Under – Tuesday, November 15th at 6:00 p.m. and; 18 & Under Boys – Sunday, November 27th at 1:00 p.m. There is no cost to participate and all interested candidates must have an active Boys and Girls Club membership. “Learn To” Programming for Tots

The Club is pleased to announce that we have begun registration for the 2nd session of “Learn To” programming for 3-5 year olds. The first session of classes is currently winding down and our new classes will take place on weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings. There will be programming in many of our core program areas including Athletics (Basketball, Floor Hockey and Soccer), Aquatics (Swim Lessons and Family Swim), Fine Arts (Art for Me), Music (Music Exploration), Education (Science for Me, Puppet Theater - Literacy). Registration is currently ongoing and the new classes will begin the week of 11/28. Please note that there is a $35 fee for each 8-week session of classes. Prior to registering you will need to fill out a membership application for each child.
