The staff of the Reporter extends Christmas and holiday greetings to our readers and advertisers. We are privileged to have your support and encouragement throughout the years as we try to bring you the best coverage possible about the communities we all care deeply about.

It has been a difficult year for many local families: Some have lost loved ones. Others have lost jobs or homes. Many of our neighbors continued to struggle with an economy that seems merciless in its uncertainties.

We are heartened each week as we also find stories of measures of kindnesses large and small, and of neighbors caring for neighbors. There is something inspiring about the enduring spirit of a neighborhood that knows its share of hardship yet continues to work together to make Dorchester a place we want to call home. Thanks to all of you who do your part to make that a reality.
