Summer Swim Team Completes Season

The Summer Swim Team hosted the Annual Blue/White dual-meet to close out the 2011 summer season. The meet was followed by an outdoor barbecue for all swimmers and parents. Team members began practicing three nights a week in early July and their hard work showed, as many swimmers created new personal best times for the season during the meet. Look for registration (ongoing), parent orientation (9/20), as well as try-outs (50-yard swim) for any new swimmers ages 6 to 18 (9/16 and 9/19). Fall Fine Arts Programs

Registration for the approaching series of Fine Arts classes being offered this Fall is currently ongoing. On Mondays we will offer Drawing & Painting Classes at 3:15 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. (for ages 8-12) as well as Advanced Painting & Drawing at 6:00 p.m. (for ages 10-18). On Tuesdays look for Girls Art at 3:15 p.m., Boys Art at 4:15 p.m. (ages 8-12) and Teen Art at 6:00 p.m. (ages 13-18). For Wednesdays we will offer Beginner Photography Classes at 3:15 and 4:15 p.m. (ages 10-12) as well as Everything Fashion at 6:00 p.m. (ages 8 and older). Our Thursday schedule will include Sculpture Classes at 3:15 and 4:15 p.m. (ages 8-12) as well as an Advanced Sculpture Class at 6:00 p.m. (for 10 & older). On Fridays we will offer Field Trip Friday’s/Art Inspirations for ages 10 & up. Members will visit museums, galleries and other sites to draw inspiration for works they will create when they return to the Arts Studio. This class will register 12 members. These classes are in addition to our new “Learn To” Art Classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 12:15 and 1:15 p.m., drop-in Gamesroom Art for ages 5-12 that will be offered at 2:15 p.m. weekday afternoons right in the Gamesroom and Open Art at 2:15 p.m. weekday afternoons – a time for members to drop in and work on projects of their choosing. Social Recreation Group Clubs

The Social Recreation program for members ages 5 to 12 is based out of the Marr Clubhouse Gamesroom and offers a variety of drop-in activities, group games, outdoor activities, field trips, holiday events and more. During the Fall program we will offer four group clubs for members to join. The Girls Group is for ages 10-12 year of age and will meet on Wednesdays from 4:00-5:00 p.m. The Girls will enjoy discussion periods, plan trips and perform community service. The Boys Group, the counter-part to the Girls Group will meet on Thursdays. The popular Fencing Club will return on Saturday mornings for ages 8-12. This group will go off-site to the Moe Fencing Club in Somerville for instruction from 10:00-12:30 p.m. Lastly, the Torch Club will meet on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00 p.m. This group, which is the younger version of the Keystone Club, has a community service focus and is for ages 10-12.
