Daniel Marr, Jr. Catholic Schools Scholarship Program

The Boys and Girls Club is pleased to announce that the 21st year of the Daniel Marr, Jr. Catholic Schools Scholarship Program is complete with 76 Club members selected to participate representing 22 schools in the greater Boston area. The Daniel Marr, Jr. Scholarship Program was founded in 1992 in the name of the late Daniel Marr, Jr. upon his bequest to the Archdiocese of Boston. In turn, the Archdiocese created the scholarship fund to recognize the work Mr. Marr had done in the community, and as a means to assist Club members and their families with tuition assistance at Catholic Elementary and High Schools located in the area. To date nearly $800,000 has been awarded through this very successful collaboration between the Archdiocese and the Boys and Girls Club to deserving Boys and Girls Club members. We congratulate all of the members selected. In addition to the Scholarship program we also offer Homework Help, One-to-One Tutoring, College selection and admission assistance, small group activities, field trips, and more. For information on any of our Education programs please contact Emily Capurso at ext. 2320.

Boston Globe Community Care Day

This past week the Boys and Girls Club teamed with volunteers from The Boston Globe to take part in their Annual Community Care Day event. The Boston Globe, which reaches out to local non-profits in need of volunteer activities each Fall, returned to the Club where last year they helped paint the Teen Center in our McLaughlin Clubhouse. This year volunteers from the company put a fresh coat of paint on the Lobby and Gamesroom of our Marr Clubhouse. We thank the employee volunteers for committing the time needed to complete this project and to The Boston Globe for their ongoing support of the Boys and Girls Club.
