Marr-lins in tri-meet with Worcester & Taunton Clubs

The Marr-lin Swim Team traveled to the Worcester Club where they were joined by the Taunton Club for their second and final tri-meet in the N.E.N.E.A.P.C. league season. The meet was close throughout with Taunton gaining the point battle with 246, followed by the Marr-lins at 242 and Worcester at 154. The meet featured many strong performances from swimmers in each age group. Some of these highlights include the following swimmers in the 8 & under age group: Anna Cahill (100 yd. Social Recreation Program News

The Social Recreation program is for members ages 5 to 12, and is based out of the Marr Clubhouse Gamesroom. Social Recreation offers a variety of drop-in activities, group games, outdoor activities, field trips, holiday events and more. Currently, we are offering six group clubs for members to join: The Girls Group (ages 10-12 on Thursdays); Torch Club (ages 10-12 on Wednesdays); Girls Scouts (Daisies for ages 5-7 & Brownies for ages 8-10 on Wednesdays); Boys Group (ages 10-12 on Fridays); the Outdoor Adventure Club; and the off-site Fencing Club (ages 8-12 on Saturday mornings). Social Recreation is also the home to many upcoming special events in January. On 1/7, a group of 150 members and staff will head to Shawnee Peak for a day of Skiing or Snowboarding. The following day, on 1/8, we will be taking a group to the Boston Bruins “Slice the Ice” Event at TD Banknorth Garden. Our members will get the chance to skate on the Garden Ice and meet Bruins players. Other upcoming events include the Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Contest (1/9 to 1/12), our Friday the 13th Day event (1/13), announcement of the Essay Contest winner (1/18), a field trip to Laser Tag (1/19) and our Invention Day activity (1/25). In addition to these special events, weeknights between 4:45 – 6 p.m., members are invited to enjoy a hot, nutritious meal through our Patriot’s Kids Café program which is offered in partnership with The Greater Boston Food Bank. The Kids Café program is open to all registered members at no cost with applications included in each child’s membership.
