Intramural Floor Hockey Program

The 18-team Intramural Floor Hockey program began regular season play this past week with nine games played over three days. In the 10 & under Boys division, which plays games on Thursday afternoons, the opener saw the Red Wings defeat the Avalanche, 6-3. Michael Kerr (4 goals), Maurice Barnes (1 goal) and Thomas Craig (1 goal) provided the offense for the Red Wings while David O’Donnell (2 goals) and Damon Howell (1 goal) led the Avalanche attack. In the second game the Sharks, behind Declan Traphagen (4 goals) defeated the Whalers 4-2. The Whalers offense was provided by De’Andre Gomes (1 goal) and Christopher Davis (1 goal). In the third game Jackson Walsh (3 goals) and Tahron Allen (1 goal) propelled the Sabres to a 4-0 win over the Maple Leafs. On Friday afternoon the Girls 10 & under division took the floor with the Black Hawks and Oilers playing regulation time and overtime to a 0-0 tie. In the second game the North Stars looked in top form as they defeated the Black Hawks by a score of 4-0. Daejhele Rousseau (2 goals) and Michana Smith (2 goals) provided the scoring for the North Stars. Later that same evening the Co-ed 18 & older division held two games. In the first game the Flames bested the Devils by a score of 5-2. Emily Carvalho (2 goals), Bryan DeLaCruz (1 goal), Kora Bazile (1 goal) and Elijah Miranda (1 goal) handled the scoring for the Flames while Joseph Norman (2 goals) led the Devils attack. In the second game the Lightning defeated the Blues 7-1. Tayla Duarte (2 goals), Jasmine Castro (2 goals), Angie Viloria (2 goals) and Jamila Barros (1 goal) led the Lightning while the Blues were led by Junior Monteiro (1 goal). The week closed out with two games in the Boys 14 & under division. In the opener the Flyers got by the Canadiens 9-6. Walter Dew-Hollis (6 goals), Luis Rodriguez (2 goals) and Jaden Morant (1 goal) led the Flyers while the Canadiens were led by Deijon Holmes (2 goals), Bryan DeLaCruz (1 goal), Tyalie Campbell (1 goal), Octavius Nunes (1 goal) and Cameron Rego (1 goal). In the second game the Capitals, behind De’Andre Dew-Hollis (3 goals) and Armani Correia (1 goal) defeated the Islanders 4-3. The Islanders were led by Le-Zhan DosSantos (1 goal), Pedro Lopes (1 goal) and Saide Smith (1 goal). All four divisions of the Intramural Floor Hockey program will continue regular season play through the end of November before heading into their respective post-season tournaments. Music Program News

During the week of October 22nd, the Music Clubhouse will kick-off the small group Music Lesson program. These classes will consist of drums, voice, bass, guitar and piano with pre-registration required. In addition to the Lesson program their are scheduled drop-in activities such as Friday Night Live, Open Mic Night and drop-in sessions. Friday Night Live will include fun, inter-active theme nights to help introduce members to the music program and will include Rock Band, D.J. Nights and Karaoke. Our next Open Mic Night will take place on 10/19 and members are encouraged to present their music, spoken word, poetry and/or other talents in an informal setting. We will also offer: daily Open Music, a time for members to get acquainted with all there is to do within the Music Clubhouse; “The Shed,” a chance for members to come together and Jam; Ensemble rehearsal; our Music Council; and “Jammin with Geoff” our special activity for members ages 5, 6 & 7. Social Recreation Program

The Social Recreation program is for members ages 5 to 12, and is based out of the Marr Clubhouse Gamesroom. Social Recreation offers a variety of drop-in activities, group games, outdoor activities, field trips, holiday events and more. Currently, we are offering four group clubs for members to join: Torch Club; Girls Scouts; Passport to Manhood; and the off-site Fencing Club (ages 8-12 on Saturday mornings). Upcoming trips include an Outdoor Adventure Club Hike (10/13), a Bantam trip to the Movies (10/19) and a Junior trip to Barrett’s Haunted Mansion (10/26), while our October special event will be the Halloween Party on 10/31.
