Safe Summer Streets Basketball Championships - The 16-team Safe Summer Streets Basketball league for teens came to a close in August with championship games held for all three divisions. In the Girls division the Lady Huskies, led by Lorena Escolero (16), Laura Escolero (11), Stephanie Rizzo (10), Joseline Posada (7), Emily Padilla (2) and Maria Delvecchio, defeated the Lady Cavs 46-35. The Lady Cavs were led by Jessica Teixeira (14), Kaila O’Brien (11), Fatima St. Hilaire (6), Meghan Lescinskas (2), Dayra Diaz (2), Jennifer Tavares, Saran Kaba, Giulia Fenton, Armani Monteiro and D’Mitra Weathers. In the Intermediate Boys division the Front Runners, led by Randy Pereira (14), Le-Zhan DosSantos (11), Malik Monteiro (9), Devante Teixeira (8), Mauricio Andrade (4), Sean Dykens and Joel Lara defeated the Hoyas 53-37. The Hoyas were led by Morris Barnes (10), Brendan Manning (9), David Mitchell (7), Jerell Lewis-Guy (5), Zack Salako (2), Brendan Neal (2), Mauro Barbosa (2), Chris DaSilva, Steven Spencer, Nelson Marquez and Kevin Teixeira. In the Senior Boys division it was the Horsemen defeating Dynasty 53-45. The duo of Kevin Scarlett (14) and Terrell Davis (14) led the Horsemen while Phillip Lodge (16) led Dynasty. Career Prep Program - The Summer portion of the Career Prep program has come to a close with 100+ teens placed in positions inside and outside the Club.
