Member Recognition Night - Congratulations to all of the members and their families on a successful 2014 Member Recognition Night event. Each core program area recognized 10 outstanding participants and also presented a Director’s Award. Congratulations to the following members: Aicha Tavares, Tina Le, Shannon Zarnoch, Erica Correia, Isaiah Selmon-Forrester, Shannon Hickey, Emily Mischler, Enrique Amara and Alicia Feliciano who were presented Director Awards. We also congratulate Shannon Casey, Fatima St. Hilaire, Caroline O’Brien, Emily Carvalho, Aicha Tavares, Jack O’Halloran and Josh Johnson, our Youth of the Year Award winners.

Special Pre-Summer Programs - The Club partnered with two groups to provide special pre-summer programming for members the week of 6/30. For members ages 5-9 we partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the ZAC Foundation to host a Water Safety program. During the day participants were able to take lessons in the pool, take part in educational activities, and meet with first responders. For our older members we partnered with the Boston Harbor Islands Alliance. After an Orientation from a Park Ranger on Monday, members headed off to George’s Island, Spectacle Island, and Peddock’s Island the remaining three days. Our thanks to our partnersfor providing these exciting new program opportunities.

Summer Meals Program - The Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all members free of charge. Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.
