Boys & Girls Club of Dorchester

SSS Career Fair - The Club will host the Annual Safe Summer Streets Career Fair for teens on 8/3 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at our Marr Clubhouse. There will be 25+ professionals on hand to speak on their respective careers. Professionals representing finance, law enforcement, health, non-profit management, and much more will be on hand to answer questions. The panel sessions will be followed with an informal Munch & Mingle style dinner where members and panelists can speak directly. For more information, or to register, please contact Santi Dewa Ayu (sayu@bgcdorchester.org).

Island Hoppers Program - The Club would like to thank the Boston Harbor Island Alliance for their partnership in offering the 3rd Annual Island Hoppers program this past week. During the week 60+ members took part in visits to George’s, Spectacle and Peddock’s Island and were led on tours and activities by the National Park Rangers. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the history of each island as well as discover the habitat and learn about conservation. The week began with an orientation on Monday and finished with a reflection piece for all on Friday. The program was overseen by our Education program as part of their STEAM curriculum for the Summer. For more information on our Education program please contact Joel Figueroa (jfigueroa@bgcdorchester.org).

Attorney General’s Office Visit - Thanks to the 50+ volunteers from the Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General, Maura Healy, who visited the Club last Friday to assist at the Field Day event. The volunteers helped to run games at McConnell Park, serve lunch and returned to the Club to host a workshop for all on the the dangers of Bullying. This is the 8th consecutive year the volunteers have spent a day with us during the Summer.
