An early morning break-in at the Washington
Street convenience store across from Dorchester
District Court turned chaotic after a store
employee shot himself in the foot during a struggle
with the intruder.
Between 3 and 4 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15,
Courthouse Convenience owner Marc Stallworth and
co-worker Gary Smalls entered the store to find an
intruder coming up the stairs in back of the
store.
Stallworth and the intruder grappled with each
other as Smalls called police and then grabbed a
gun. According to Stallworth, he attempted to flip
the intruder, who then kicked the shotgun in
Smalls's hands, shooting Smalls in his left
foot.
Smalls is due to undergo five surgeries total
for his foot. Police apprehended the intruder.
Paul Brisbon, 41, of Chelsea, was arraigned on
Dec. 17 at Dorchester District Court. He was
charged with breaking and entering (nighttime), and
assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to Suffolk County District Attorney
Daniel Conley's Office, Brisbon was held on $2,500
bail. He is due back in court on Jan. 14.
Stallworth, who has owned the store for about
nine months, said the intruder was attempting to
steal some tobacco products.
Stallworth and Smalls had noticed the front
grate to the store was half-lifted, with Stallworth
remembering he had left it closed when he left a
few hours before.
Stallworth said he then saw the smashed front
door window, which cost him $400 to replace.
The two then saw the intruder climbing out of
the basement. "I said you have two choices: Die or
go to jail," Stallworth recalls.
A struggle in back of the store ensued for ten
minutes, leading to Smalls getting shot in the
foot.
Stallworth said he was coming into the store
early to get some work done.
"I pretty much stay up a lot," he said.

Two arrests in Williams St. double
murder

connection with an August double slaying on
Williams St. Alexander Bolling, 24, of Mattapan,
and Taneika Britt, 31, of Taunton were due to be
arraigned in Roxbury District Court on Friday for
the alleged murder of Jesse Calhoun and Robert
Turner. Their arrests come out of an investigation
at a Suffolk County special grand jury.
Alleged serial rapist found guilty
A Dorchester man last week was found guilty on
all nine counts of kidnapping two teenage girls,
force-raping a child and raping a woman with
cerebral palsy. Moonie Moses, 35, is expected to be
sentenced on Jan. 3.
Moses was accused of raping a 13-year-old twice
and a 15-year-old three times, each girl a week
apart in his car on Park St. between July and
September 2002. A week after that, he allegedly
lured a 32-year-old woman with cerebral palsy,
limping in the rain, into his car, and raped her on
Ronald St. The victim was able to scramble out of
the car and memorize the car's license plate.
Detectives pointed to photo identifications and a
positive DNA match as evidence. Moses served as his
own lawyer before a Suffolk Superior Court
jury.
