Two brothers were picked up and charged Sunday, one with possession of a firearm.

Michael Depeiza, 24, of 133 MacDonough St. in Brooklyn, NY, was arraigned this week on the firearm charge, one of eight of that type of charge that rolled through Dorchester District Court on Tuesday. His court-appointed attorney, Robert Zanello, said Michael was only a passenger in the car, with his brother, Edwin, 27, of Mattapan, the driver.

Michael Depeiza was in town visiting family for their father's birthday, he told the court. Michael was previously convicted in January 2006 of possessing a firearm in Dorchester District Court.

Bail was set for $30,000 and he was held without bail on another case. The next court date is Nov. 6.

Officers responded to a call 12:48 a.m. radio call of a person with a gun at American Legion Highway and Blue Hill Avenue in Dorchester, pulling the gun on a person and then fleeing in a black station wagon, according to the police report.

Officers, after checking the registry with the license plate provided to them, headed to Delhi Street, finally finding the car by Babson St. and Blue Hill Avenue. The two suspects were ordered out of the car and officers noticed a silver colored Smith and Wesson 40-caliber firearm, with a black handle and 10 rounds of ammunition, sticking out of the rear pocket of the front passenger seat.

Both suspects were then placed under arrest. Edwin said he found the gun in front of his Delhi Street home, and he took it away from his brother when he picked it up, according to the report. Edwin told the officers he was on his way to turn the gun at the station.

Officers seized Edwin's cell phone, which had photos of the weapon.

In police stop, four teens accused of illegally holding guns

A group of local teens stopped by police in Fields Corner in the early hours of Sunday morning faced gun charges in Dorchester Court this week.

Tarvis Brown, 17, of 15 Semont St., and Nathas Jacquecin, 19, 41 Harlow Street, were charged with possession of firearms. Daquan Dooley, 18, and Kenny Mondesir, 17, were also charged with unlawful possession of firearms.

Court-appointed attorneys for Brown and Jacquecin, Robert Zanello and Tony Vinroy Blaize, respectively, noted that nothing in the police report linked the defendants to the charges.

Bail was set at $5,000 each for Brown and Jacquecin. The next court date for them is Nov. 6.

Police stopped the four teens at 4 a.m. Sunday after they ran a red light at Adams Street and Gibson Street When the officer asked the driver of the brown 2001 Oldsmobile sedan, Jacquecin, for his registration, his hand trembled while retrieving it from the glove compartment, the other three appeared tense and nervous, according to the report. Additional police officers were called to the scene.

Suspects were patted down, officers found a brown-handled ice pick and silver butterfly knife on Dooley and a Smith and Wesson knife on Mondesir. Officers also found a revolver under Brown's seat. None had licenses for the gun, according to the report, and they were placed under arrest. Jacquecin was also cited for not stopping at a red light and not wearing a seat belt.

During booking, Mondesir was found to have five small bags of a white rock-type substance, believed to be cocaine, in his rear pocket, the report said.

The report also noted that both Jacquecin and Mondesir were wearing a metal button with a picture, reading, "Hakeen Piggy Horton, 07-29-89 to 11-07-06, we will always love you." Horton was the city's 65th homicide victim last year, a Roxbury resident killed in Dorchester.
