Just released from prison, a Malden man was back in court Tuesday for alleged disorderly conduct. He was ordered to stay out of Dorchester.

Jonathan Arce, 20, of 4 Knollin St. in Malden, was charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct in Dorchester District Court. A plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf.

He was released on his own personal recognizance, while charged with a 7 p.m. curfew for violating his probation. The judge also ordered him to stay away from Dorchester except for probationary and court matters. His next court date is Jan. 9.

On Monday afternoon, officers encountered a group of known gang members on Hendry Street, an area where several drug and firearm arrests have been made, and told them to disperse.

While others left, several remained, including the suspect, who kept his hands in his pockets and started to yell obscenities at the officers, according to the police report.

The suspect resisted a frisking, continuing to yell and causing a crowd to appear. One of the officers recognized the suspect as having been arrested in Dorchester for allegedly possessing a firearm. He was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct.

At the District C-11 booking station, the suspect said he was unemployed but had about $600.

Judge orders Dorchester teen, charged with taunting police dog, to go to school

A Dorchester teen was ordered to go to school and be home by 6 p.m. by a Dorchester District Court judge after he was charged with taunting a police dog.

"You're 17, you belong in school," Judge Rosalind Miller scolded, noting that he has already picked up two offenses.

Jahmil Wahkym Sheppard, of 108 Elm Hill Ave., had also been charged with alleged disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Bail was set at $100. His next court date is Nov. 5. Sheppard grudgingly agreed to school and random tests for drugs and alcohol after speaking with his court-appointed attorney, Leon Drysdale.

"This is not funny," Miller snapped earlier at Sheppard, who was wearing a red Northeastern University sweatshirt, when he apparently laughed at the charges. Miller noted that he had caused a scene during a murder investigation.

According to the police report, officers from the Codman Square Safe Street team and "Zyggy" the police dog on Friday responded to Washington Street and Columbia Road radio call of a person shot.

While they were investigating, Sheppard was punching the rear cage of the K-9 Boston Police cruiser, causing the dog to bark and growl at him, the report says. The suspect then opened the door to let the dog out.

A large crowd formed, and as police approached, the suspect tried to flee on a bike, the report says. Three officers attempted to subdue him, but he struggled, causing two officers to tear their pants in the process.

Sheppard had been in court this past summer for allegedly resisting arrest and disturbing the peace, after a fight with his brother in the Burger King parking lot near Columbia Road and Washington Street.

Second pre-trial scheduled for Dorchester activist

Dorchester activist Isaura Mendes, who has lost two sons to a drive-by shooting and a stabbing, will be in court again Nov. 27.

Charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer, Mendes, 56, founder of the Bobby Mendes Peace Legacy, was in Roxbury District Court last week for a pre-trial hearing, a type of hearing which is largely considered administrative.

The charges stem from a late September incident when police attempted to arrest her grandson, according to media reports.

Charged with property destruction, Dot man sent to Bridgewater State

A Dorchester man who shares an alias with an American playwright was sent to Bridgewater State Hospital this week for a medical evaluation after getting arraigned on charges of allegedly wrecking his friend's place and a minor drug offense.

Johnny Dabney, 51, of 412 Talbot Avenue, had a not guilty plea entered on his behalf. On the daily arrest list, his name was also listed as Eugene O'Neil, the same as the writer, whose work includes "The Iceman Cometh," and who is buried in Jamaica Plain.

Leon Drysdale, Dabney's court-appointed attorney, said Dabney was under the influence at the time and had hurt himself. "He was injured in this whole situation," he said.

According to the police report, police responded to a radio call on Sunday requesting the suspect be removed, with the victim saying the suspect was drunk and began to destroy his apartment. Police observed a window pane broken and the door pushed in and on the floor.

The suspect's eyes were glossy, his speech slurred and he had trouble standing on his own, the report said. The victim helpfully yelled at the officers, "I think he has warrants out of Quincy."

In response, Dabney took off down the stairs and started running down Talbot Avenue, the report says. One of the officers was able to catch up with him just as the suspect lost balance and fell on the sidewalk, causing the officer to lose his balance and fall on top of the suspect, bruising the suspect's face.

When the suspect was finally handcuffed, officers found a small bag of marijuana underneath him. Dabney was transported to the District C-11 Area station, where he was deemed too drunk to complete the booking process and sent to Caritas Carney hospital.

Bail denied for Roxbury man charged with murder

A Roxbury District Court judge denied bail for a Roxbury man this week. Lamory Gray, 22, was arraigned on the charge of murdering Herman Taylor III in July 2006 and had been arrested Friday, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.

His next court date is November 27. According to the DA's office, investigators didn't believe that Taylor was involved in any gang activity, and was an "innocent victim of street violence who was simply headed home."
