Nomination sought for Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition awards

The Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition (MFFC) will recognize an individual (adult or youth) or community organization that has made outstanding contributions to Mattapan through continued efforts to improve the health of residents. The award will be presented at the Mattapan Moving For Life event on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the George H. Walker Playground (next to Mildred Avenue Community Center). Read more

We bring members of the community together to address the risk factors leading to substance use and abuse and inform parents and loved ones about access to prevention and treatment. To learn how you can get involved, or to share your suggestions on how to reduce substance abuse among Dorchester teens, come to DSAC's monthly meeting, held on the third Tuesday of every month from 6-7 p.m. at Carney Hospital. Dorchester Multi-Service Center

DotWell's Mommy/Daddy & Me fitness classes at the Dorchester Multi-Service Center, 1353 Dorchester Ave., on Mondays from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., in the gym, for children two years and older. On Tuesdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., a "water babies" class for children six months to 2.9 years.
