A man was shot to death early Thursday morning near Franklin
Field in Dorchester. The victim, Roderick Carter, 24, of
Dorchester, was found lying in front of 20 Stratton Street
at 3:05 a.m., according to police. He was pronounced dead at
the scene. The murder is the latest in a series of gun
homicides that have rocked Boston neighborhoods in recent
days. Anonymous tips on this and any other crime can be
called into the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1-800-494-TIPS

Man found stabbed
to death in Tuttle Street home
Neighbors on a quiet Savin
Hill sidestreet awoke to a crime scene on Thursday morning,
after police discovered a man stabbed to death in a third
floor apartment at 56 Tuttle Street. Boston Police say the
victim is a white male in his thirties and was found dead at
approximately 6 a.m.
Rose Tran, who lives on the second-floor of 56 Tuttle
Street, told the Reporter today that she did not hear any
commotion upstairs last night. She awoke at 5:45 a.m. to the
sounds of police cars arriving at her door. She is not sure
who called the police or how they knew to come to the
address. Tran, whose son owns the property, said that the
third floor tenant is not the victim. Tran said the current
tenant, whom she knows only as "Steve" has lived upstairs
for the last year-and-a-half. "He is very quiet, very good
man," Tran said. "I thought
that he was the one they found. I almost cried. But they
told me it wasn't him," Tran said. Police have not yet
classified the death as a homicide.
In
Strand encore, Menino charts next
moves

As his grandfather addressed a packed house at Dorchester's
Strand Theatre on Tuesday evening, Thomas Menino III found
plenty of ways to pass the time. Mayor Tom Menino's State of
the City address touched on the bitter standoff between city
administrators and the firefighters union, but focused more
on a litany of new and existing initiatives Menino said he
will pursue. Photo by Pete Stidman
