Savin
Hill treasure fetches big bucks at
auction

This portrait of a young Edward Reed Dorr hung in a Savin
Hill home owned by the Dorr family for over 100 years. In
August, it was "discovered" by a Boston auction house and,
last week, it sold amid furious bidding for $866,000.
Reports
document PCB problem in Neponset
River
Two government commissioned
reports that will be released next month will give a new
window into a long-feared problem: PCBs - the remnants of
decades-old industrial waste - continue to contaminate the
Neponset River, endangering marine life and posing a health
risk to people who might consume certain fish from the
river. As the state's Dept. of Environmental Protection
searches for the original sources of the pollution, the new
research is likely to focus renewed attention on two Boston
dams, including the Baker Dam in Lower Mills, where the
contamination is concentrated.
