Dot goes glitzy for Oscar bash

Union deal weakens residency rules
A move by Mayor Thomas Menino to weaken the residency requirement for members of one of the city's roughly 40 employee unions has drawn loud criticism from City Council President Maureen Feeney and ominous predictions from other pro-residency advocates who have long argued that requiring city employees to live within city limits is crucial to preserving Boston's middle class.

Program to spread convention center money
A new grant program created by the Massachusetts Convention Center will extend access to mitigation funds originally reserved for South Boston nonprofits to organizations across the city.

B-3 cops point to crime drop in monthly meeting
Boston Police last week told members of the Dorchester-Mattapan Neighborhood Council that the new year has brought big improvements in crime statistics on the B-3 district.
