Hopeline open for Boston teens to connect with summer jobs

The 2014 HOPELINE Summer Jobs Registration for Boston teens registration period begins today, February 1 and closes on March 3. For the first time in years, the summer jobs program has been extended to include 15-18 year olds in its employment opportunities.  Read more

ABC Story Time: Tuesday, February 4 @ 10:30a.m.
Come to the library for ABC Preschool Story Time. We will read stories, sing songs, dance, and play and make crafts. This program is appropriate for children ages 6 and younger. Large groups please register with Ms. Angela.

Toddler Circle Time: Wednesday, February 5 @ 10:30a.m.
Bring your toddlers to the Lower Mills Branch for Circle Time. Children will enjoy stories, songs and rhymes. Appropriate for children ages three and younger, but all children are welcome. Large groups, please register  Read more

Daisy and Brownie Girl Scout Troop

This is a Daisy/Brownie Girl Scout Troop open to girls K2-Grade 3. Meetings are Fridays, 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the First Parish Church in Dorchester. We will be doing lots of fun things, having great adventures. We will be working on the new Journey Programs. For information, check out the GSUSA website Journeys.

Registration will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 3:30 p.m.
Registration fee is $25.00 per girl from date of registration until October 1st. Financial aid is available.

Volunteer in the Boston Public Schools

Live, work or play in Dorchester? Consider volunteering there, too. Boston Partners in Education is looking for mentors and tutors for students in Boston Public Schools, specifically in Dorchester neighborhoods.

Volunteers work one-on-one or with a small group of students for an hour a week during the school day. Opportunities are available in all grades (K-12) in either English Language Arts or math.  Read more

250 years ago, Elizabeth and Samuel Pierce, Jr., lived just off Adams Street in the house we call Pierce House. They were farmers, raising animals and growing crops. They lived a very different life than we do today. Learn how they lived during this drop-in museum experience for young learners.

(Recreational Opportunities for City Kids), a series of free programs and activities organized by the City of Boston and Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF). Family Variety Fridays

Every Friday evening the Anthony D. Perkins Community Center hosts “Family Variety Fridays”. This is a FREE weekly Friday event open to family, friends of all ages and the community-at-large, all summer long. No membership or registration required.

Activities include but are not limited to movie nights, pool parties, carnival nights and talent shows.
