Mayor Thomas Menino announces a new community policing initiative. City Councillors At-Large Michael Flaherty and Sam Yoon hold another presser outside City Hall, this time to announce that the two rivals of the 1983 race for mayor - Ray Flynn and Mel King - are joining the campaign as "senior advisers."

Mayor Thomas M. Menino will join city and public health officials to dedicate the new Weintraub Day Center, the first city-operated day center for chronically homeless residents. The Center will provide substance abuse and mental health counseling, health insurance enrollment, and housing referrals. Mayor Menino will also announce new public funding to connect chronically homeless residents to permanent housing.

2:15 PM Announce the Latest Community Policing Initiative, the "Constituent Response Team"

Mayor Menino will announce the latest community policing initiative known as the “Constituent Response Team” that will proactively identify and analyze recurring quality of life issues through new technology that will compare data through computerized mapping.

COUNCILOR MICHAEL FLAHERTY:

10:45 PM Flaherty and Yoon announce former Mayor Ray Flynn and former State Representative Mel King will officially join the Team Floon "ticket" as senior campaign advisers.
