It's the day before Election Day. Mayor Thomas Menino delivers new books to a Brighton library (with a Red Sox player) and then holds a campaign rally in East Boston with local electeds. City Councillor At-Large Michael Flaherty will be in Dudley Square, the Greater Love Tabernacle and end the day with a campaign rally at the Carver Lodge.

MAYOR THOMAS MENINO:

11:00 am - Mayor Menino delivers new books to Edison School library in Brighton with Red Sox player Kevin Youkilis.

Mayor Thomas M. Menino will join Boston Red Sox All-Star Kevin Youkilis to celebrate a delivery of new books to the Edison School's library. Last July at Fenway Park, Mayor Menino and Kevin Youkilis launched the "Batting for Books" program, a new initiative run through the Red Sox first basemen's foundation Hits for Kids that collects books for the libraries throughout the Boston Public Schools system. The program’s goal is to collect 100,000 books.

With polls set to open in less than 24 hours, Mayor Thomas M. Menino will thank hundreds of supporters for their dedicated work on the campaign and rally the community to help get out the vote for Tuesday’s election. Senator Anthony Petruccelli, State Representative Carlo Basile, and City Councilor Sal LaMattina will be among the local leaders on-hand to pump up the crowd.
