It was a good forum & much needed considering the civic groups that have hosted meetings to which only incumbents were invited. Isn't that the stupidest? At Wd5's well attended forum voters got a chance to consider the three challengers. I thought Michael Fiaherty did very well and that it was good to see him and his independant streak especially. Ayanna Pressley couldn't be there and she was missed. Only one candidate made the pitch to keep the incumbant quartet on the City's payroll and it went over like a led balloon. The savvy audience knew that this was a tactic that served the Mayor's effort to keep a Council in place that he could control more often than not and eased the 1st termer's fear of Flaherty's tendancy to top the ticket. Only regret this audience member had was a decision by the Wd5 Committee to endorse in June for November. It's the forum that will be remembered not the too early endorsements of Arroyo, Pressley & Connolly. Unless of course, one of 'em gets busted for stealing a neighbor's Sunday paper . . .
