Police probe death of man on Hilltop Street

Boston Police detectives probing the death of a 46 year-old man, who was found outside a home on Hilltop Street on Tuesday morning, do not believe that foul play was involved.
Elaine Driscoll, a spokesperson for the BPD, tells the Reporter that police believe that the man died after a fall that caused trauma to his head. Driscoll says that homicide detectives will stay on the case at least until the Medical Examiner's office issues a report. The identity of the victim has not been released.
Smash-and-grab suspect nabbed on Pope's Hill

Boston Police relay news of an early morning arrest of a South Boston man, who apparently thought neighbors on Neponset Ave. would snooze through his glass-shattering antics. Police caught up to the 23 year-old suspect on Train Street and returned to the scene, where the victim positively identified him as the man who just plunged his hand through her car window.

Police union eyes Neponset veterans' post for HQ

Members of a veterans' post in Neponset will gather later this month to discuss a proposal to sell their longtime headquarters to the city's largest police union. The Boston Police Patrolmen's Association (BPPA) - now headquartered in Dorchester near South Bay - would like to purchase the John P. McKeon AMVETS Post at 4 Hilltop Street. In a letter sent to the post's membership last weekend, veterans were asked to attend a special meeting on Saturday, Oct. 25 to discuss the proposal to sell the building and to hear a presentation of "a new building" for the post. Veto of Neponset cleanup funds puzzles activists

Gov. Deval Patrick's veto of $12 million for the cleanup of the lower Neponset River has left activists puzzled and hopeful that lawmakers will move to restore the money. The funds were meant to be part of a $1.7 billion bond bill that Patrick signed in August. In a press release announcing the signing, there was no mention of the Neponset veto or any others.
