Puppet show at Hunt-Almont Park
By
The Boston Parks and Recreation Department’s ParkARTS program is hosting its exciting third annual marionette puppet show series during the months of July and August. Boston’s parks will once again come alive with the unique charm of Rosalita’s Puppets, marionettes made by professional actor-puppeteer Charlotte Anne Dore.
Dore founded Rosalita’s Puppets over 16 years ago and has experience in a variety of settings ranging from renaissance festivals, libraries, fairs, and theaters throughout New England and beyond. Rosalita’s Puppets will perform a variety of whimsical puppet shows that take you on an adventure through your imagination. Whether traveling by pirate ship, discovering new planets, exploring enchanted forests, or searching for unicorns, these marionettes will delight the child in everyone.
The puppet shows will be a special addition to the ParkARTS Artists in Residence Craft Workshops which will be held in July and August, Tuesday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The craft workshops, sponsored by Comcast, provide free craft materials for kids to design their own creations alongside local artists. Come enjoy our beautiful parks and try your hand at watercolor painting, jewelry making, treasure bottle designing and more.
All shows begin at 11 a.m. and admission is free. Dates and locations for the marionette puppet show series are as follows:
Tuesday, July 10 Hunt/Almont Playground, Mattapan
Friday, July 20 Fallon Field, Roslindale
Wednesday, August 1 East Boston Stadium
Friday, August 10 John Harvard Mall, Charlestown
Tuesday, August 14 Martin Tot Lot, Dorchester
