The Social Host Liability Law- "Be a Parent Not a Pal" presentation and the Civic Engagement Community Forum will be held next Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Leahy-Holloran Community Center during the DSAC's Quarterly Coalition Meeting. This activity is free and open to the public. All are welcome.
"Be a Parent, not a Pal, is a special presentation created by the law firm of Campbell, Campbell, Edwards and Conroy. The presentation will depict real stories associated with illegal drinking by those under the age of twenty one and the "furnishing" of alcohol or space to drink for minors by their peers, parents or older adults. This presentation is designed to educate Parents & Teens about the social, criminal and civil penalties and liabilities related to Underage Drinking and the Social Host Law. Also being discussed is the legal information for student athletes under the MIAA (Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association) ie: the MIAA has recently adopted a ZERO tolerance policy punishing Student Athletes caught drinking, using drugs, smoking or using chewing tobacco ANYTIME during the year.
Your age appropriate teens will also be able to learn about voter registration which will be discussed by Kate Audette, Senior Policy Analyst at Harbor Health Services Inc.
