Sneak preview of The Abolitionists at Copley BPL
WGBH and the Boston Public Library host a free sneak preview of “The Abolitionists” from American Experience with special guest, actor Richard Brooks (Law & Order).
Get an inside look at “The Abolitionists,” a new three-part series from American Experience about the epic struggles of the men and women who fought to end slavery: Frederick Douglass, William Lloyd Garrison, Angelina Grimké, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and John Brown. After a sneak preview of part two (1838-1854), WGBH senior reporter Phillip Martin will moderate a discussion with the team behind the television event, including the actor who portrays Frederick Douglass, Richard Brooks. The event is free and open to the public.

MORE: American Experience also has launched The Abolitionist Map of America,an interactive map where users can explore events, characters and locations connected to the anti-slavery movement. The series has partnered with dozens of museums, libraries, archives and PBS member stations to populate the map with geo-tagged photos and documents, as well as more than 30 video clips from the three-part series premiering Tuesdays Jan 8, 15 and 22 on WGBH 2 at 9pm, 150 years after the Emancipation Proclamation took effect in January 1863.
