Ribbon cutting at South Boston Community Health Center
South Boston Community Health Center staff will be joined by Senator Elizabeth Warren, Congressman Stephen Lynch and the South Boston elected delegation of Senator Forry, Rep. Collins and Councilor Linehan to celebrate the Grand Opening of the health center’s new Digital Mammography Suite. The ribbon cutting will take place on the first floor of South Boston Health Center’s 409 West Broadway building at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 21st. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
Women who undergo routine mammography at South Boston Community Health Center now have the latest diagnostic technology available to them, digital mammography. South Boston Community Health Center is the only health care provider in the community to feature the state-of-the-art system, Selenia digital mammography from Hologic. The system is the same that is used at many of the large hospitals in Boston. Digital mammography is different from conventional mammography in how the image of the breast is acquired and, more importantly, viewed. By offering women the latest technology in mammography, the Health Center hopes to increase the number of area women who follow recommendations for regular screenings.
South Boston Community Health Center is the only provider of primary care in the South Boston neighborhood. With a staff of over 150, the center provides 60,000 visits a year to nearly half of South Boston’s population. The center has been providing care in the South Boston community for over 40 years.
