DORCHESTER OPEN STUDIOS

This year’s open studios event will take place the weekend of October 19th, with an opening reception & performance on the 18th at Codman Academy’s blackbox theater. The event will feature over 100 artists & craftsmen exhibiting in 15 different locations, including: Howard Art Project, First Parish Church, Pearl Street Studios, Humphreys Street Studios, Uphams’ Corner Artplace, UP Market, The Real Estate Group, Walter Baker Lofts, Milton Acupuncture, Masonic Building, The Strand Theater, The Boston Home, and DAC’s home building, The Eric Jean Center for The Arts.

EVENTS:

There will be poetry readings led by UMass grad students at Dorchester North Graveyard (corner of Columbia Rd & Stoughton St. in Upham's Corner) and a documentary screening of The Brotherhood Project inspired by the vision of the late Erick Jean. The Brotherhood Project is an initiative that helps identify “at-risk” male youth (10-14 years of age) living around Codman Sq. and Four Corners and providing them with necessary tools for success through a series of strategies that includes: youth leadership development programs, youth job opportunities, and a cultural campaign to transform the culture of violence.

SHUTTLE VANS

There will be shuttle van services available that will be running two different routes. The two loops intersect at First Parish Church, which will serve as a transfer point. Loop "A" connects Humphreys St. Studios, Upham's Corner ArtPlace, Pearl St. Studios, 1st Parish Church, EJCA and back. Loop "Z" connects First Parish Church, Howard Art Project, Ashmont Station, The Real Estate Group, The Boston Home, and the Walter Baker Lofts. Shuttle van services will run from 12pm-5pm on both days (19th & 20th)
