John F. Collins:Making the New Boston Happen
A Panel Discussion among Historians and Contemporaries

Tuesday, October 22nd
1:00-2:30 p.m.
The administration of Mayor John F. Collins (1960-1968) was pivotal in Boston history. By way of building relations with the business community and State legislature; a bold tax policy; and a dynamic urban planner (Ed Logue) to advance large-scale urban renewal, John Collins rebuilt Boston, both physically and financially. The Collins Mayoral records, recently transferred to the City Archives with grant assistance from the NHPRC, will expand the ability of scholars to interpret this era. This panel of historians and Collins contemporaries will reflect on John Collins and the impact of his administration on the Boston experience.
