WHY: The August 16 event celebrates the successful launch of a low-wage workers movement in Massachusetts and to help attract even more workers and community members to the low wage worker cause.
The groups are celebrating passage of recent legislation that will increase the minimum wage in Massachusetts, the passage of a Domestic Workers’ Rights Bill, and the successful local launch of the national *Fight for $15* campaign to promote good jobs and strong communities across the state.
On the heels of the national fast-food strikes, workers winning a $15minimum wage in Seattle, and the #WageAction event held in Boston on June 12, advocates are planning a major week of #WageAction around Labor Day this year and will be recruiting more workers and families for those
efforts in Dorchester on August 16th.
