Cedar Grove Baseball launched its season with a ceremony at McMorrow Park in Neponset on Sunday, April 27. The event included a parade of Cedar Grove ballplayers from T-ball through Senior divisions, the singing of the National Anthem by the St. Ann’s Youth Choir and presentation of the colors by the Boston Fire Department Honor Guard.
The ceremony included a special salute to the late Patrick Mannion, a dedicated Cedar Grove coach and dad who passed away suddenly in January 2014. His family— including his wife Monica and son Connor— were on hand for a special presentation made by Cedar Grove’s league president Charlie Maneikis, who presided over Sunday’s ceremony.
The 2014 season has been dedicated to Coach Mannion.
